Less structure-borne noise thanks to the effective acoustic insulation of enclosures

Mechanical devices and machines often are the source of structure-borne noise. Examples include motors, pumps, compressors and ventilation systems. These devices generate vibrations that are transmitted through their housings and then spread into the surroundings in the form of audible sound. Soundproofing machine enclosures is therefore an effective method of reducing structure-borne noise and creating a quieter working and living environment.

soni 1116 ALG is a two-component material for heat protection and acoustic insulation: The heat-resistant surface layer is made from a high-quality aluminum foil and reliably reflects heat radiation. The bottom layer consists in a quilted glass fiber mat, which is responsible for the heat insulation effect as well as for the sound-insulation properties. Our soni 1116 ALG is optimally suited for use in the hot zones of vehicles and machines. When mechanically fixed, the acoustically effective insulation mat withstands temperatures of up to 600°C. The aluminum surface doubles as barrier preventing the penetration of oil, water and fuel. The material meets the fire safety standards for the automotive industry as set down in FMVSS 302 and DIN 75200. Simply use a carpet knife to cut soni 1116 ALG to the required size and shape. The optional self-adhesive rear face facilitates the installation of the panels.

soni 471

Ordering PUR foam acoustic panels from soniflex soni 471 is a sound absorber made from PUR- foam. In a thermal embossing process its surface has not only been provided with an attractive diamond pattern, but also compacted and sealed, making it very robust and dirt-resistant. What is more, the air-permeable embossing improves the material’s acoustic effectiveness - especially in the frequency range of engine noise. Uses for soni 471 Our soni 471 acoustic foam scores with high hydrolysis resistance and is predominantly used in the automotive industry. For instance, soni 471 is ideally suited for use as sound-absorbing and heat-insulating interior lining in mobile homes, vintage and classic cars or other vehicles. It meets the fire safety standards for the automotive industry as set down in FMVSS 302 and DIN 75200.   soni 471 is easy to cut to the desired size and shape with a carpet knife. soni 491

soni 491 is a PUR acoustic foam coated with a micro-perforated film. The sound-permeable film prevents the penetration of dirt and liquids and can be wiped clean. Our soni 491 acoustic foam has proven its effectiveness in many years of practical use, successfully minimizing noise levels and providing thermal insulation in engine compartments and vehicle interiors. It meets the fire safety standards for the automotive industry as set down in FMVSS 302 and DIN 75200. Also for the insulation of your roller shutter box we can recommend the PUR foam without restrictions.  soni 491 scores with high hydrolysis resistance and hence significantly higher aging stability.The material is easy to cut to the desired size and shape with a carpet knife. Moreover, the self-adhesive rear face makes installation fast and easy.

soni 491 STL
Our soni 491/STL noise-control panel is a highly effective sound-insulation product based on PUR foam, equipped with a micro-perforated surface film and additionally with a heavy layer. This clever combination of two different acoustic materials ensures both sound-insulating and sound-absorbing properties in one product. soni 491 STL is suitable, for example, for boosting the sound insulation effectivity of a wall, partition wall or ceiling. Advice on building a curtain wall: For a curtain wall, dowel wooden laths of 30 or 50 mm thickness to the wall. Ideally, an elastic layer is placed between the wall and the laths to prevent sound bridges. Our soni NBR sealing tape is the ideal solution for such an elastic mounting. Then insert our sound-absorber product soni 491 STL in the empty spaces between the laths and cover them with plaster boards or particle boards screwed to the laths. To optimize the curtain wall you can "decouple" the plaster board / particle board from the floor and ceiling as well as the adjacent walls by filling the edge joints with acrylic.For an example of a curtain wall construction for noise insulation purposes, please see the testimonial "Neighbors / Curtain Walling”.  If you do not have the tools and/or the time to cover the sound-insulation panels with plasterboard or chipboard, we recommend our soni COMPOSITE as an alternative sound-insulation material. In contrast to soni 491 STL, soni COMPOSITE scores with a stylish decorative felt surface that is available in different colors and excellent for visible sound-conditioning materials.

soni COMFORT

soni COMFORT is a very hard-wearing sound absorber made of a white PES non-woven fabric with exceptionally good sound-absorption capacity. In addition, soni COMFORT offers excellent fire-resistance values. soni COMFORT has been tested successfully according to the DIN 4102 fire safety standard and is classified as fire-retardant (B1). Therefore it is the material of choice for all applications requiring both an effective noise reduction and full compliance with fire safety regulations. When used as a ceiling element, soni COMFORT also fulfills the impact-resistance requirements according to DIN 18032-3 and is ideally suited for use in sports facilities and gymnasiums. What is more, soni COMFORT is aging-resistant, free of mineral fibers and physiologically perfectly safe. All this makes soni COMFORT a true all-rounder for effective sound-conditioning measures in a wide variety of room types. For covering entire wall or ceiling surfaces we recommend using soni COMFORT F. While soni COMFORT has plain edges, soni COMFORT F has beveled edges all around (10 x 10 mm), creating a beautiful visual effect when installed edge to edge. Additional advantage: The resulting pattern helps conceal any uneven patches on the ceiling or wall. If necessary, soni COMFORT and soni COMFORT F can be cut to the desired size and shape with a carpet knife or a keyhole saw with a blade suited to cutting soft materials. Our soni DECOR acoustic foam consists of polyurethane- foam laminated with a sound-absorbing non-woven surface layer. The black polyester non-woven is extremely robust as well as oil- and fuel-repellent. Due to the resistant non-woven surface, soni DECOR is widely used in technical applications. For instance, soni DECOR is ideally suited for use as sound-absorbing and heat-insulating interior lining in mobile homes, classic cars or other vehicles. Also in your home workshop, soni DECOR will achieve an effective noise reduction. Using a carpet knife, you can cut soni DECOR to the required size and shape. soni EVA is a soft, elastic heavy layer on the basis of EPDM/EVA polymers with an admixture of flame-retardant minerals. Our soni EVA heavy layer is suitable specifically for technical applications, vehicles and machinery. It is designed to eliminate vibrations and drumming of sheet metal and metal parts. Applied to a metal structure, soni EVA will effectively reduce the sound level and prevent the transmission of noise and vibration. For soni EVA, the optional self-adhesive equipment of the rear face serves primarily as an installation aid. In the case of installation on a vertical surface or on a ceiling, we recommend additional mechanical fixation.
